Still Life, Patients Sent to Morgue

Celestrino de Assis Rosa directly sent to the morgue after doctors declared him dead. Brazil Women's 60-year-old was hospitalized for pneumonia.

O Globo newspaper reported on Sunday (25/09/2011), the woman's body was put in a body bag for at least two hours and already incorporated in the cooling chamber.

"I hugged the mother's body, for the last time. That's when I felt him breathe. I was screaming, 'My mother is still alive!" People are surprised to see me, and thought I was crazy, "said Rosangela Celestrino, daughter of the woman, told O Globo.

According to hospital officials, De Assis suffered two strokes and respiratory assistance. On Friday at around 19:30 local time, a nurse reported to the doctor on call that De Assis did not show signs of life. Heartbeat and pulse are not detected. After the check, the doctor said that De Assis died.

Hospital director, Manoel Moreira Filho, said the mistake was known around 22:00 tonight. Immediately De Assis body warmed and given a breathing apparatus.
