You have several MOV to MJPEG conversion programs to choose from in order to convert MOVs to MJPEGs, including programs like RER HD Movie Converter (MJPEG AVI conversions only), WinMPG Video Converter and Oxelon Media Converter. The first two options are available for free trial downloads, while Oxelon Media Converter is freeware.
- QuickTime movies, or MOVs, are a standard video format for many multimedia players and programs. MJPEGs, short for Motion JPEGs, are individual frames of movies encoded as JPEG still images. The MJPEG format is for high-quality video editing, resulting in large file sizes, so make sure you have plenty of hard drive space to store the files
- Open your Web browser and visit the download page for RER HD Movie Converter. Click the "Download" button near the top of the screen to download a free trial version of the program. Run the software application file and follow the on-screen installation instructions. Accept the program's licensing terms and launch RER HD Movie Converter.
- Click the "Browse" button to the right of the "Input File Name" field and locate the input MOV file on your computer via the pop-up Windows Explorer screen. Click its icon and select "Open" to load your MOV in RER HD Movie Converter.
- Press the "To AVI" button in the top-left corner of RER HD Movie Converter's main window to load AVI output settings in the "Profile" field. Click the "Profile" drop-down box and choose the "MJPEG File - (MJPEG, 768 kbps, 29.97 fps)" option. Press the "Edit" button for any additional advanced settings, like quality and frame rate, if needed, and click "OK" to return to the main screen.
- Click the "Browse" button opposite the "Output File Name" field and choose an output location for your MJPEG file. Name your file and click "OK" or "Save" to return to the main screen.
- Click the "Convert" button in the lower-left portion of the screen to begin the conversion. Track its progress via the progress window and wait for the conversion to complete.
WinMPG Video Converter
- Download a free trial version of WinMPG Video Converter by visiting "winmpg.com/download.html" and clicking the "Download" button at the top of the page. Double-click the ".zip" package file when the download is complete to unarchive its contents and begin the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions, agree to the terms of use and open WinMPG Video Converter.
- Click the "More" button in the lower-right corner of WinMPG Video Converter's main screen, revealing more output options. Click the "MJPEG" button to reveal the conversion dialogue window.
- Click the folder icon next to the "Input File" field and locate your input MOV. Highlight its icon and click "Open."
- Click the "Output File" folder icon and choose an output location on your computer to save your converted MJPEG to. Name your file and click "OK" or "Save" to return to the main screen.
- Click the "Profile" drop-down box and choose an MJPEG video quality. Press the "Convert" button to begin the MOV to MJPEG conversion. Allow several minutes to several hours for the conversion to complete.
Oxelon Media Converter
Visit Oxelon Media Converter's download page and click the "Download Converter" and "Download Plugins" buttons to download both packages to your computer. Double-click the converter's ".exe" program file to initiate the installation process. Follow all on-screen instructions for installing the converter and plugins to your computer, agree to their licensing terms and launch Oxelon Media Converter.
- Press the "Show All" box near the top-left of the screen so a check mark appears, revealing all codec and parameter options.
- Click the "Media Format" drop-down box at the top of the page and check for an "MJPEG" output option. If it's not available, choose "AVI" and select "MJPEG" from the "Video Codec" drop-down box.
- Press the "Add Files" button in the bottom-left corner of the screen to enter a pop-up search window. Locate your input MOV file, highlight its icon and open it in Oxelon Media Converter.
- Click the "Browse" button on the right side of the screen and choose an output location on your hard drive for your MJPEG video. Make sure you have plenty of hard drive space. Name your file and click "OK" or "Save" to return to the main screen
